Memorial Weekend Trip- Part 1

We decided to take a spur-of-the-moment trip to Mt. Rushmore for Memorial Weekend. We didn't leave until about noon on Saturday because I had to go visiting teaching Saturday morning.

May 23rd Storybook Island- Rapid City, South Dakota

This is the place to go if you have kids. It has all sorts of things for kids to play on/in. Everything is from Nursery Rhymes, Storybooks, and the movies. Best of all it was FREE! although they do accept donations...

Wesley, Wesley pumpkin eater, had a wife and couldn't keep her,
so he put her in a pumpkin shell and there he kept her very well...

One thing I thought was really cool about this place it was wheelchair friendly. They had a swing for wheelchairs and also the cabbose on the end of the train was for someone in a wheelchair. There was also a playground just for kids 5 and under.

If you go to visit Mt. Rushmore you must take your kids here.

Daddy's Favorite Trick

Wes' favorite trick is to put the kids on his hand and make them balance. He started doing this with Shalon when she was 3 months old and recently started doing it with Cutler. He does it everywhere and loves getting a reaction. At first I was nervous but now it's old news.

May 18th- Lovell, WY

May 18th. It was really hot in Lovell and I hadn't brought any shorts for Shalon because it had been kinda cold the previous week so we stripped her down to her diaper and let her run through the sprinklers with Uncle Kurtis. She loved it.

Where to Begin

I need to play catch up from the last couple weeks. I left off on my birthday... We didn't do much I'd kinda been celebrating for over a week before because I got a re blooming pink lilac from Wes' parents. Haven't killed it yet. :) Wes was going to take me to dinner but Shalon was having a bad day and we didn't want to take her to a restaurant so we ordered in and got those new pasta bowls from Dominoes. They were good. We ordered our food online which was kinda cool. It tells you what they are doing as they do it and it shows when your food is done. Wes ordered me some Temptations ovenware off QVC for my birthday. We love QVC...

These pictures are from that week in Lovell. There was a big windstorm one night and part of a tree fell on David and Susan's house but luckily there was no damage.

Fishing

Last Monday after FHE Wes, Cutler, and I went fishing. It was such a nice night. I had never gone fishing the "Wyoming" way. I grew up fishing holding a pole in my hand. Here they have pole holders and clip bells to them so they have more chances to catch a fish. They just sit on the bank and then run when the bell rings. Wes caught a very nice 4-5 lb. catfish.

May 4th
