Wednesday is my Dr. day. Today we were there for about 1 1/2 hours. The ultrasound was fine (I have one every week). I'm on the high end of normal for amniotic fluid but that's typical with gestational diabetes. It's still a boy... I don't know why but every week it's almost like the Dr. goes out of his way and prints me out a picture of his boy parts... The estimated weight of this baby is currently 6 lbs. 8 oz. so I'm sure that he'll be bigger than Shalon. She was 7 lbs. 1 oz. The baby has put 1 1/2 lbs. on in the last 2 weeks. I still have 3 1/2 weeks to go...
After the ultrasound it was on to the "non stress test". This is a very active baby but today he wasn't feeling it as I was hooked up to the monitors, so after the first 15 min. (when I was supposed to be done) they decided I should drink some apple juice (talk about sweet when I don't really have sweets). That really got him moving. However then they were having a hard time with his heartbeat. So all in all I was hooked up for 45-60 minutes. Then they deteremined things were fine and I could go home.
Shalon was really pretty good considering she was running on not a lot of sleep. Last night she got up around 11 with a fever. I dosed her up on Tylenol and laid next to her in bed. I dozed on and off until 1:30 am and decided I wanted my own bed. I slept in my bed until 4 and then was up with Shalon again. I finally made it back to my bed about 6:15 am. After all of our running around today ( I had to get some errands done after my Dr. appt.) I brought Shalon home and put her to bed. When she woke up from her nap I took her temp. and it was 102. I decided to take her to the Dr. She's been sick with a cold for a week or so. They said to just keep treating it with Tylenol and hopefully it breaks soon. I think Shalon's had it with Dr.'s :)
That's my day in a nutshell...

Shalon's new bed
This weekend we got Shalon a bed and put the crib away in the basement for a month or two until the baby grows out of the bassinet. Shalon loves the bed. She has her big stuffed dog on it and just snuggles up to it every night. She is the best little toddler. Once we put her in bed she doesn't get back out of bed even though she still doesn't have a door hung for her bedroom. She no longer makes her way back into our bed. HOORAY!!
Wes's family came over on Saturday. They went to work and helped us accomplish some projects that have been needing to get done. My cupboard doors are hung, shelving is up in the basement and a ton of boxes got unloaded that were sitting down there. Wes put up all new lighting in the kitchen and installed an outlet and switch for the dishwasher and garbage disposal. We really appreciate all that was done. Thank you! I need to take some pictures...
5 weeks from today.... In some ways I can't wait. I am so ready to not be pregnant anymore and to not have to be so careful with my diet. Although I don't think that I will completely go back to how I was before. I still want to be cautious because I don't want to develop Type 2 Diabetes. However, I am not sure I'm ready for 2. I hope this baby is as good as Shalon was.

Weekly Update
Well I went to one of my two visits (per week) to the Dr. today. I have to get a weekly ultrasound. My ultrasound showed I am 33 wks 5 days along. I am measuring 34 wks. The baby weighs approx. 4 lbs. 15 oz. Everything is going well. Now if I could just get over my cold. I seem to catch anything that goes around...

Surgery is set
Well this baby is officially going to be the first surgery of the day on February 23rd. I am not looking forward to another c-section. I know what to expect but it really is nerve wracking. I remember trying not to hyperventilate with Shalon and Wes trying to calm me down. He asked what color her eyes were going to be. I said "blue" very emphatically like duh... anyway... My parents are coming out which will be nice because I'm not sure Wes will be in town. He'll be there for the 23rd but he's been working out of town since before Christmas so he'll probably leave early the next morning.
So far I've been doing fairly well with the diabetes. My numbers are pretty good. I struggle a little in the morning because I am a carb lover and the only thing I really would eat for breakfast with protein are eggs. I am getting sick of eggs. Otherwise I'm pretty good. I do alright staying away from the sweets. I do succumb to a hershey's kiss every now and then but honestly who can really resist chocolate. Let's be honest with ourselves.

Fun with food storage
I got on a friends blog and saw this. It looks very interesting and a good way to get started with food storage. Since we just got new shelving for our basement compliments of Wes' parents (Thank you!) I think this would be a good way to put it to use. Anyway check out the link for yourselves.
