Christmas Morning 2008

Baby

Well today was the day... I went to the dietition who said I was doing pretty well. The Dr. thought I was doing ok but decided to put me on Metformin because as pregnancy goes on the hormones get stronger and your blood sugar gets worse even if you are doing ok... But the good news is I don't have prick my finger as much, only 3 times a day now. We also found out that we are having a Boy!

Gestational Diabetes

I was diagnosed last week with gestational diabetes. I went in for diabetic counseling today and got to poke my finger for the first time. YUCK! I have to do it first thing in the morning, before I eat and an hour after I eat. Can you say fun? Not! However I did learn that I can eat ice cream in moderation. It's not forbidden because the fat in it makes it metabolize slower. I asked about chocolate because that is what I'm missing the most. The nurse told me to take my blood sugar after I eat it and see what it is. If it's not too many points above then she said to exercise the next time I eat it and I'd be ok. I haven't tried yet but I can tell you that if I have to exercise to eat chocolate I might be doing a lot of exercising. : )

Rocking Horse

Friday we went to Casper to Wes' company Christmas party. At the party they gave everyone gift certificates to Menard's. It's a store like Home Depot or Lowe's but just has a little of everything. We had a hard time figuring out what to buy and finally ended up getting tow ropes for all our vehicles, a mirror for our bathroom door, and a rocking horse for Shalon.

She has been deathly afraid of the horse but thinks it's cool from a distance. Wes got her to ride it this morning. She makes us go with her to pet it. It's kinda funny.

Sad Days!

Well Shalon and I came with Wes to school this week. We are staying at a hotel and have had a decent time. My plan was to update my blog this week with pictures but alas I guess it's not meant to be.

On Monday I took Shalon to the mall. We did some window shopping and then I took her to the play area. I got my camera out and took some cute pictures. Well I got distracted and set down my camera put Shalon back in the stroller and left. When we were at dinner I realized I'd forgotten it. We searched the diaper bag, our room, the car. Wes went back to the mall, of course it wasn't where I'd left it. I went back yesterday and checked the lost and found. I also asked at the stores right around there but nobody was honest enough to turn it in.

Most of my pictures are downloaded to the computer but there were some I really wanted from the last week or so and they are gone! :( I keep hoping that someone will see that there were like 800 pictures on my camera and take pity on me and turn it in before we leave town on Friday.

Halloween pictures finally...

Jana made Shalon and Sydney matching Halloween costumes. Here are finally some pictures of her on Halloween in Lovell. The picture of her in a box was taken at home during general conference.

One of these days...

One of these days I'll get to my blog. I actually started uploading pictures onto my computer but that is as far as it has got. Shalon and I have been sick. She went to the Dr. yesterday and was diagnosed with an ear infection and yeast infection. I have been coughing like crazy and went to the Dr. today. He called in an antibiotic for me.

And now what you have all been waiting for... Drumroll please...

The baby is... a baby! We wanted to find out but it wasn't meant to be. At first the Dr. told us it was a girl he was pretty sure, however the umbilical cord was between the baby's legs. So he looked at everything else which was good and came back to double check. This time it looked like a girl but then every so often we caught a glimpse of what appeared to be male anatomy. So in the end we were left wondering... The Dr. is going to do another ultrasound in about 6 weeks. I would post some pictures of the baby but it wasn't very photogenic either. So maybe another time.
